Aspects of 1Malaysia

One Malaysia carries a meaning from the aspect of the government’s commitment that each ethnic group should receive assistance and protection from the government so that the country emerges as one that practises the principle of social justice.

Our Prime Minister also states that the primary aspect of the OneMalaysia concept has three core elements. These are:
• Mutual acceptance amongst the races and peoples of Malaysia
• Nationalism based on principles of the Federal Constitution and the
Rukunegara
• Social justice
“One Malaysia, People First, Performance Now” is quite an all-encompassing concept.

How to make 1Malaysia motto a meaningful slogan

Nowadays, certain of Malaysian citizens sort theirselves according by their races. Thus, it will lacerate the solidarity and create a gap between races.   Furthermore, some of our people are only socialize with their own race and they were unlikely to be friendly to the other races. These factors are also adapted into our local economy sectors and many other sectors. To overcome this situation, Malaysians, regardless of race or religion need to think and act as one race, that is the Malaysian race that thinks and acts towards a common goal to build a world that is prosperous, progressive, peaceful and safe thus enabling it to compete with other communities in the world. The main motto is People First; Performance Now. We should have work together to make 1 Malaysia a meaningful slogan regardless of age, sex, races and religion.

As the first Hari Raya under new Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, it should be an occasion for Malaysians regardless of faith, race or political beliefs to give real meaning to his 1Malaysia slogan so that it will not be short-lived and the butt of ridicule, derision and contempt like the slogans of previous premiers. A meaningful slogan, programme and policy of 1Malaysia is one response – but not when 1Malaysia is mere rhetoric contradicted at every turn of reality that it stands for the very opposite of an united, harmonious and competitive Malaysia.
